Last Cup. Dec. 30.09
Two good looking signs.
So this is the last entry for 2009. What an interesting year it has been. A lot of changes for me personally. I want to thank all of the people that wrote to me and supported my work. It's been a pleasure meeting a lot of you and a true humbling experience to know that some people out there get my work.
January 1st is the start of another decade and I'm excited about the new projects I have lined up. Hopefully you'll join me for some of them.
Thank you once again for being there for me.

Everyday Things vol.2.
With this entry, Everyday Things ends. It was fun writing and drawing it, but as we all know, nothing lasts forever. I want to start working on some new projects for the coming year. I am sincerely grateful to those who supported Everyday Things. You know who you are.

Right before the coffee filled the rim. At the Elysian coffee shop.
I had mentioned in an earlier post that I thought I knew what font the coffee shop used for their logo. Indeed I guessed it right. They altered the type a bit.

Lovely font used for the Elysian Coffee shop. I was so sure that the font used was called Bree, but the letters "E and I" are curved and the Ball on the letter "I" is missing. Unless they altered it, I'm convinced that it's Bree.

Roving Eye Dec.12.09
I don't have a cell phone. I'm still a payphone guy. I'm finding it harder by the day to find one. I stumbled upon this one on Main street and there was a poster glued to the side. The text was one of the most beautiful things I have ever stumbled upon. This is what it said:
Pay Phone:
For only a quarter you get:
a booth, not a cell; a chance to save a species; a polyphonic sound closet; a twenty-five cent costume changer; a functional time machine; true anonymity; no bill; contract or incoming call; proven protection from birds; no tweet; twote or twit; déja vú; an entirely auditory experience.
For only a quarter you get: five minutes to relive the twentieth-century.
I really wish I knew who wrote this so I could give them credit.

Lost Memories. Dec. 8.09
When you walk, you find things. I stumbled upon this lost diary on a branch. Someone probably put it there so the owner who originally lost it could see it. The image is both beautiful and sad. I did not touch it. One's thoughts should only be shared not taken. I sure hope the owner got it back.

First and last Cup for November 2009
Man, I can't believe November is almost over. Tomorrow, we begin the last month of 2009. I keep hearing everyone talking about the new decade. Here is a lovely shot of dirty cups. Even when I was a dishwasher, so long ago, I always enjoyed carrying the tray with all the coffee cups.

First Cup Nov. 23.09
Today is National Espresso Day. In order to decrease his employee's coffee break time and increase their productivity, Luigi Bezzera invented the espresso coffee machine in Italy in 1901. Bezzera's machine used steam pressure to force hot water through the ground coffee filters. This allowed coffee to be prepared quickly by the cup on demand and the resulting brew of coffee was also stronger in flavor and body. Bezzera's patent was sold to Desidero Pavoni in 1903 who began commercially producing and distributing the espresso machines throughout Europe.
Celebrate the day by making your own or invite a friend to a strong cup.

My small obsession
Donut Queen Nov09
I've been obsessed with the donut queen. I've been drawing her in my sketchbooks. It started with a postcard I own, and then it went onto various sketches. Next time I draw her, I'll have to have a donut in my mouth.

Lori Joy Smith lives in Charlottetown. Mia Hansen lives in Vancouver. Together, they get together virtually to present us with a web comic every Friday. These two talented women totally seem to be having fun doing this and I envy their creativity. Their drawing styles compliment each other so well. I hope they put out the comics in printed form some day.

Anneka Tran

Self described as an "Illustrator, cookie baker and rain hater", Anneka Tran is more than that. She is so multi-talented and yet quite humble of her many talents. Her sense of colour is quite playful. She can render 3D drawings and yet still make them look cute without the "Pixar" look.
